The popular social messaging apps like WhatsApp and WeChat
have taken the messaging to a completely new level. Unfortunately, our privacy
is not well taken care of. Earlier, I've covered an article about 'how to lock
whatsapp with a password'. It is beneficial for those who use only the WhatsApp
as their main messaging platform. However, a lot of people still use the
regular SMS text messaging system to communicate with their loved ones.
Those text messages can definitely be seen by others who had
access to your Android mobile phone. Of-course, there is a lock screen feature
on every Smartphone, but not everyone likes to enter the pattern or pass code
every time they want to use it. Luckily, there are many useful Android apps on
the play store that help you to hide or lock SMS messages with a password (set
by you).
SMS Lock is definitely a life saver for those who wanted to
protect their privacy. Once installed, it will hide all the SMS/MMS messages
and only the user who knows the pattern will be able to view those messages.
The SMS lock android app works on the default messaging app as well as the
Google Hangouts app.
How to Install &
Configure SMS Lock Android App?
1.First of all, go to the Playstore,
download and install the SMS lock app. If you've no Internet connection on your
mobile, you can also download the apk file to PC and then transfer it to your
mobile phone.
2.Once installed, open the app and
select the list of apps that you wanted to password protect. By default, the
messaging app and the hangouts app will appear in the list. Ensure that you see
a 'lock' sign beside the app you want to lock, else tap it.
3.Next, tap on the option ' Change Lock
Pattern' which will let you set a lock pattern for the first time.
4.Once done, click 'Continue'.
5.Next, tap on the button that says
'Enable Lock' to activate the SMS locking feature.
That's it! From now onwards, all your SMS messages will be
locked and hidden. No one except you will be able to view your messages, that
too only when you enter the pattern lock. If you want to unhide all your
messages in the future, you can simply do so by opening the 'SMS lock' app and
then tapping on the 'Disable Lock' button.
